I could have sworn that the late night forecast was for TRACE amounts of rainfall along the North Coast today. After passing through downpours on the way out, and experiencing a couple of lovely thunderstorms in the Bay area, I think I need to redefine my sense of TRACE amount. Dodging the rain, I managed the following observations.
Medusa Marsh - 9:30 to 10:00 am Great Egret - 39 Mute Swan - 32 Gadwall - 280+ Mallard - 1850+ American Black Duck - 150+ Northern Shoveler - 40+ Northern Pintail - 28 American Wigeon - 230+ Green-winged Teal - 130+ Hooded Merganser - 1 Greater Yellowlegs - 10 Dunlin - 23 Forster's Tern - 18 ---------- Bay View - 10:10 am Double-crested Cormorant - 700+ ----------- East Harbor State Park - 10:20 - 10:50 Mute Swan - 24 puddle duck spp. - 600 Forster's Tern - 75 Common Tern - 85 Caspian Tern - 4 -------- Port Clinton - 11:20 Canada Goose - 215 Mallard - 600 ------- Huron pier - 12:15 no mudflats - no birds ------ crossing the Huron River at Rt. 2 at least 80 Dunlin could be seen
